Great message out of the book of Mark about a father pleading for his son. The stupid spirit was cast out by Christ, never to return. What an awesome message of a fathers love, a Saviors power, and a God who cared enough to send Him.
In case you missed Wednesday nights message you can watch it here.
Services have been cancelled this evening. Please pray for those who must travel and stay safe and warm! We will see you all on Sunday morning!
It is difficult for me to fully grasp, but Dr. King met some of his strongest opposition from people who strongly believed Christ’s teachings. People who preached and taught about the forgiving love of Christ for all people everywhere actually endorsed violence against their black brothers and sisters!
How could these people be so right on so many important doctrines but so wrong in how they treat their fellow man?
I can’t speak for them. But I can say, based on I Peter 2:4-12, that Christians ought to be the last people to be fighting for the supremacy of any race or for special treatment based on race, ethnicity or culture.
Instead, Christians out to be the sort of people who say:
- Our only supremacy is found in Christ. We find our value in our connection to the “precious, elect” Christ, the One who makes us useful (I Peter 2:5-6)
- Our only identity is found in Christ. We’ve been divinely selected for a high and unique calling: showing and sharing a Savior who gave us a valuable identity (I Peter 2:9-10)
- Our only fulfillment is found in Christ. We live as people whose home is not here and whose joy is found out of this world (I Peter 2:11)
- Our only glory is found in Christ. When we are wronged, we don’t find for revenge or restitution … we fight for reconciliation knowing that it pleases our God (I Peter 2:12)
“Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and has redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; and has made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.” Rev. 5:9-10
